Gilles Bisson
MPP for Timmins - James Bay
First elected in 1990 in the former riding of Cochrane South, Gilles Bisson has proudly served the people of Timmins–James Bay for 27 years.

Currently the NDP House Leader, Caucus Critic for Natural Resources and Forestry, and Critic for the Attorney General, Gilles has championed many causes and developed a reputation for working tirelessly on behalf of his constituents. With riding boundaries that span from Timmins to the Hudson Bay Coast, and the Ring of Fire to the Quebec border, Gilles is intimately aware of the issues that matter to Northerners. From the fight to expose the water crisis in First Nations communities like Kashechewan, and ongoing efforts to save forestry and mining jobs in the region, Gilles works diligently to be a strong, effective voice for the North at Queen’s Park.

Here in our community, Gilles and his staff appreciate the privilege and responsibility that comes with serving the people of Timmins- James Bay. From helping constituents deal with WSIB or ODSP concerns to working with local community groups and municipalities with their funding and program applications, Gilles and his team take pride in going the extra mile for our community.

A lifelong resident of Timmins, Gilles and wife Murielle have made the city their home for the last 40 years, and are the proud parents of daughters Julie Bisson-Gardner and Natalie Bisson-Wakeford, as well as devoted grandparents of Nathaniel, Victoria, Elissa and Eva.
