TIMMINS – MPP Gilles Bisson (Timmins) has taken action to secure shorter wait times for Timmins LifeLabs patients. Details were provided by Bisson at Queen’s Park on Wednesday during Member’s Statements. Bisson said he had spoken with LifeLabs after his office had received a number of complaints about patients having to wait more than three weeks for an appointment for medical tests, and having to wait outside before being let in for a scheduled appointment.
“Three weeks can be life-changing in certain situations. These wait times are unacceptable, especially since those who are waiting for tests are often medically fragile” said Bisson.
Bisson worked with LifeLabs to expand testing to additional doctor’s offices, health clinics, family health teams, and qualified home care workers.
“I’m glad that LifeLabs will be actively working on reducing wait times for citizens. This joint effort will reduce wait times for testing to be done and help with the high demand of testing required in the laboratory. This will also reduce wait times for those waiting outside to get into the lab.”
Health care providers who are interested in offering medical tests to their patients are asked to contact LifeLabs who will arrange to have the proper medical equipment sent to their office.
Patients can contact their health care practitioner to find out if they offer this service.
